Trainers Report

Jul 27, 2018
Robert Ecker

The first trainers report of the season has arrived from handler Robert Ecker.

“Summer work is going along smoothly here in Pennsylvania,” he reported. “Early clutch sightings and pheasant stockings are underway at the Murphy farm. Woodcock numbers look stable and preliminary grouse sightings look fair. New this year at the farm are several coveys of quail.

“We have the largest crop of Derbies we have ever had — Millett’s Lightning Bolt, (Dr. Peter Millett), Hunter Run Libby (Bill and Kasey Lenz), and Rock Solid Amazing Grace (Doug Dix) are all impressive.

“Several clients have made the visit to our kennel. Paul Ober of the famous Celtic Red Setters, Rich Warters from North Carolina and longtime client and friend Carlton Neel have all been here to see their dogs in action.

“Back to help train this year is Art Bruno, and Mike Heiser has been invaluable tending to the kennel.

“Trial season is only weeks away and we wish everyone the very best.”
