Hickory Valley, Tenn. — This year’s running of the Wolf River Amateur Field Trial was held on February 28 through March 2 on the Peterson, Powers and Weaver Farms in Hickory Valley, Tenn.

The weather this year was favorable for the three days. Every brace in all three stakes had bird work.

Scott Little and Ross Leonard were the judges for the All-Age Stake and placed Ascension first with a nice forward running ground race and three finds for handler Matt Pendergest. Mohawk Mill Pirate’s Legacy, handled by Gary Winall, was second with two finds and a nice ground race. Third was Rebel Pirate, handled by David Williams, with one find, one back and a big race.

The Shooting Dog Stake was judged by Scott Little and B. J. Wright. Heard Hill’s Rebel Polly earned first with three finds for handler Buck Heard. Country Rose was awarded second with one find and one back for owner-handler Edmond James. Third was One Day Frost with  one divided find, one find and one unproductive for Lane Hodges.

Scott Little and B. J. Wright were the judges for the Derby Stake and named Cocklebur X Files first with a big upfront race with one find and two backs for handler Bubba Spencer. Rebel Survivor, handled by David Williams, was second with one find and a nice ground race. Third was Cocklebur King Tut, handled by Bubba Spencer, with two finds and a good ground race.

A special thank you is extended to Ric Peterson and adjacent landowners Conrad Powers and the Weaver family for allowing us to use their property.  Additional thanks to Brad Kennedy and Sportsman’s Pride for their generous sponsorship!
