Glenmere's Sentinel

Glencoe, Ontario — On October 16, 2021 Glenmere's Sentinel was laid to rest.

Whelped May 18, 2010, "Sparky" was purchased as an eight-week-old week puppy from Sean Derrig of Illinois. He was sired by his Hall of Fame champion Erin's Bad River ex Sweetbriar Sue.

"Sparky" had a very successful Derby career highlighted with wins at the Ontario Open Derby, a third place in the Forty-Eight National Shooting Dog Futurity in Baldwinsville, N. Y., and his first runner-up championship in the spring of 2012 at the Region 13. Amateur All-Age.

In his career, Sentinel accumulated three championship titles, three runner-up championships, first place in the Oliver DeLuca Amateur Shooting Dog Classic and numerous half hour and one-hour placements in both all-age and shooting dog stakes. His wins totaled 22.

Unfortunately, injuries throughout his life limited his trial exposure and ultimately ended his career early.

There was never a dull moment when it came to turning "Sparky" loose. Whether it was a workout, weekend trial or a championship, "Sparky" gave you 100% and always kept his handler and scout on their toes.

He was a superb pheasant dog with some of his more memorable performances happening during the fall pheasant trials at the Hullett provincial wildlife area.

"Sparky" left us with a lot of fond memories and is missed every day, especially not hearing his early morning and evening howling ritual.
