Southland Open Championship

Booneville, Ark. — The Southland Open Championship and the Arlin Nolen Derby Classic, both with one-hour heats, was contested at the J. Perry Mikles grounds near Booneville, Ark. The Nolen Derby drew six dogs, the Championship, 27.

Judges were George Hill of Wentzville, Mo., and Kipp Linard of Foristell, Mo.

In the Nolen Derby Classic, the winner was World Class Moonshiner, white and lemon pointer male owned by Michael Marietta of Pittsburg, Kan., and handled by Anderson. Second was Wynona's High Finance Rita, white and black pointer female owned by Bruce Sooter of Snyder, Tex., and handled by Allen Vincent, who also handled the third place winner, Wynona's Nickleback, setter male also owned by Bruce Sooter and handled by Allen Vincent.

Lowrider Frank defended his title won here at the Southland in 2020 and emerged the winner again in 2021. The nine-year-old white and liver pointer male is owned by Dr. Jim Mills and Steve Lightle of Searcy, Ark., and was handled by Allen Vincent. Runner-up was Lester's Shockwave, four-year-old white and orange pointer male owned by Tommy and Bonnie Hamilton of Springfield, Ky., and handled by Gary Lester.
