All-America Open Shooting Dog Championship

Carson, N. D. — The All-America Open Shooting Dog Championship (31 entries) began September 2 on the Stewart Ranch, Carson, N. D. Topping the field was Hale’s Kickstarter, six-year-old white and black ticked pointer male owned by Dr. Jeff Hale of Russellville, Ark., and handled by Eddy Taylor. Grand Prairie Thrill, three-year-old white and liver pointer female owned by Mac Stidham of Columbia, S. C., and handled by Tommy Rice III, was named runner-up.

In the companion Open Derby (23 entries), earning first was Fast Money, pointer female owned by Bud and Patty Moore  of Toronto, Kan., and handled by Steve Hurdle. Named to second was Quicksilver R T R, pointer male owned by Rick Stallings of Montgomery, Ala., and handled by Jim Smith. Nella Belgian Brew, pointer female owned by Vagas Mathieson  of Omaha, Neb., and handled by Tommy Rice III, placed third.

Judging the Championship were Mark Haynes of Brownsville, Tenn., and Justin Martin of Hutchinson, Minn. For the Derby, Mark Haynes was joined in the judicial saddles by Charles Morton of Camden, S. C.
