Continental Derby Championship

Greenville, Fla. — After the final brace of the 48-dog Continental Derby Championship at Dixie Plantation near Greenville, Fla.,  Georgia Judges Reid Hankley and Joe Rentz called for a second series to determine the winner and runner-up. After 32 minutes of the callback, back at the commissary, Continental President Randy Floyd announced, “Runner-up is Lester’s Storm Surge, and the winner is Dogwood Bill.”

In their initial hours, Storm Surge had four finds, Dogwood Bill, two, and an unproductive.

The winner is owned by Dogwood Kennels in Boston, Ga., and was handled by Jamie Daniels. The runner-up is owned and handled by Gary Lester of Gracey, Ky.

The 48 starters were comprised of 43 pointers and five setters.
