Dry Pond Field Trial Club

Autaugaville, Ala. — The Dry Pond Field Trial Club trial was held on Dry Pond Plantation in at Autaugaville, Ala.

The Jimmy Northcutt Memorial Shooting Dog Classic kicked off on November 1.  The Open Derby began Friday with a total of eight entries.

Judges for the Derby and Amateur Shooting Dog were Tim Moore of Colquitt, Ga., and Harold Johnson of Shorter, Ala.

Awarded first in the Derby was pointer male Hillhavyn’s Drug Runner, owned by Brad Brown of Monroeville, Ala., and handled by Michael Martino. Named to second was pointer male C S Redlight Run. The third place winner was pointer male Rack Shack’s John Boy, owned and handled by Sheree Gilmore of Cottondale, Ala.

The Amateur Shooting Dog had 17 pointers and one setter.  Earning first was Seekin A Thrill, pointer male owned and handled by Ross Leonard of Chatsworth, Ga. Awarded second was Nickajack Pathfinder, pointer male also owned and handled by Ross Leonard. Third was Pineywoods Jackpot, setter male owned and handled by Darron Hendley of Pike Road, Ala.

Each day ended with good food, fun, and fellowship.  It was a great weekend with good competition, great rides and many laughs.

We thank all who supported the Jimmy Northcutt Memorial Shooting Dog Classic.

Also, a very special thanks to Perry Hicks who faithfully donates all the plaques every year.  We also appreciate our photographer, Curtis Moorer, and our griller, Michael Allen, who provided the delicious meals.  Both of these guys graciously donated their time.

We also thank Darron Hendley who works diligently with the youth who are interested in the sport of field trialing.  A youth trial followed Sunday afternoon at Dry Pond Plantation.
