Field Trial Couple's Generosity a Boon to Bird Dog Foundation

By Tonya Brotherton, Bird Dog Foundation | Aug 11, 2014
Jim Chase

Jim and Janet Chase of Red Bud, Ill., died in 2012 within a matter of months of each other, Jim unexpectedly in April, and Janet of a brain tumor in October. The Brittany fraternity and the larger field trial community lost two devoted field trialers.

Both Jim and Janet were successful in their chosen fields of occupation. When working they lived in Deerfield, north of Chicago, then moved to Red Bud in Southern Illinois after their retirement, a location which made attending field trials more accessible.

After their deaths, the Bird Dog Foundation was notified that their will contained a bequest to the Foundation. On July 22, Judy Graves of Friedham, Mo., executor of the Chase estate, sent a check to the Foundation in care of Director Richard Pulliam in the amount of $100,000 to be placed in the Foundation’s Brittany Endowment Fund.

While the field trial community mourns the loss of this dedicated couple, their generosity will benefit the Bird Dog Foundation greatly, and be remembered and appreciated for years to come.
