By Nell Mobley, Secy., Georgia FTA | Jan 10, 2019

Waynesboro, Ga. — A competitive field of 55 Derbies was drawn for the 2019 running of the Georgia Derby Championship at Di-Lane Plantation in Waynesboro, Ga. Judges Mike Jackson of Battle Ground, Ind., and Lynn Oxendine of Joplin, Mo., found their winner in Erin’s Lone Star Law, white and orange pointer male owned and handled by Sean

Derrig of Chicago, Ill. Runner-up was Dogwood Bill, also a white and orange pointer male, owned by Dogwood Kennels in Boston, Ga., and handled by Jamie Daniels.

Both dogs ran on the No. 2 course and rendered powerful, forward performances, each with three well-spaced finds. Their strong performances here bode well for future all-age competition.

The All-Age Championship began Monday afternoon, January 7, and will likely be concluded Thursday morning, January 10, after the 36 dogs run.

The shooting dog portion of the Georgia trials are scheduled to begin Friday morning, January 11.
