Hoffman, N. C. — The Hoffman Amateur Field Trial Club held its annual trial December 6-8 at the wonderful grounds of Hoffman, N. C.

The trial was judged by two knowledgeable and respected judges, George Kimbrell and his son Jack, both of Fort Mill, S. C. We thank them for their time and attention to each entry.

The Open Derby drew 20 starters with Heisman, pointer male capably handled by Mike Hester, emerging as the winner. Second was Stoney Run’s Rock, a talented young dog owned and handled by Dennis Snyder. Placed third was Code of Honor, also handled by Mike Hester.

Again this year the Hoffman Amateur All-Age had a respectable draw of 28 starters. Marques Armed Robber, pointer male owned and handled by John Ivester, bested this good field of all-age dogs. Second place went to Cavenaugh’s River Shadow, setter female handled by Nan Hilliard for owner Ken Cavenaugh. Rounding out the placements with third was Home Suits Me, pointer male owned and handled by Paul Gadd.

The Hoffman Amateur Club would like to thank everyone for their tremendous support.

Special thanks goes to club members Randy Bradshaw and his wife Marcia for their hard work and wonderful cooking that we all enjoyed. This trial would not be possible without all they do. Also thanks to Debbie Bonner for the outstanding cakes enjoyed throughout the trial and her lunch on Friday.

Thanks to club members Chad Adams and Scott Griffin for their continued support and input. Mr. Alford Wood did an outstanding job manning the dog wagon for us. He helped keep the running going smoothly.

A big thank you goes to Purina representative Greg Blair and Purina for not only their support of this trial but all they do to help promote and sustain this great sport!

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
