Illinoisan Richard Wiley Has Died

The field trialing world lost a true friend when Richard “Dick” Wiley of Humboldt, Ill., passed away on Saturday, May 11.

Dick participated in many trials in Central Illinois and attended the National Championship in Grand Junction, Tenn., for many years. He enjoyed coaxing his friends to join him on this trip and he made many friends in the West Tennessee area.

Dick was born March 13, 1932 in Charleston, Ill., son of John F. and Margaret L. (Martin) Wiley. He was united in marriage to Barbara Alice Moffett April 7, 1951 in Corinth, Miss. She survives.

Also surviving are their children: Rick Wiley (Mary) of Mattoon and Janis Andres (James) of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Sue Timm and Jackie Cox.

Dick had worked for the State of Illinois, with the Department of Fish Hatcheries and also as a meat inspector, and had been an engineer for Norfolk and Western Railroad.

He held memberships in the Mattoon Eagles Club and Mattoon Elks Lodge.
