Laws Hill, Miss. — The Marshall County Amateur Field Trial Club hosted its three-stake event December 28-31. The trial drew   nine entries in the Shooting Dog, 26 in the All-Age and ten Derbies.

Judges for the Shooting Dog and All-Age were Chris Weatherly and Ryan Braddock of Grand Junction, Tenn. They are employed at the Ames Plantation. Both gentlemen rode attentively and their decisions were well received. Chris was unable to judge the Derby due to a family emergency. Your writer filled in.

For the second year in a row, Hendrix Farms, near Laws Hill, Miss., was the venue for the four-day event. A huge thank you  to Guy and Burke Hendrix for allowing the use of their property and facilities. The club would also like to thank Mr. Albert Lay for allowing us to use his property for a portion of the first and third courses. Without the help of Brad Kennedy and Sportman’s Pride the trial would not have been so successful. They are a huge part of this trial and we appreciate their involvement.

Winning the Shooting Dog Stake was Hollywood Honey, pointer female co-owned by Edmond James and Martin Michael, handled by Michael Garner. Edmond James also owns and handled the second and third place dogs, pointer male Solar Eclipse and pointer female Country Rose.

Taking top honors in the Amateur All-Age was Small’s White Stryker, pointer male owned and handled by Mike Small. Second was Hodges Beastmode, pointer male owned and handled by Brian Hodges. Placed third was Phillips Off Line, pointer male owned by Nathan Phillips and handled by Mike Small.

Winning the Amateur Derby was Hendrix’s Dak Attack, pointer male owned by Burke Hendrix and handled by Jonathan Burch. Earning second was J Maple Jester, pointer female owned by Joe and Tessa Hughes and handled by Joe.
