Field Trial Report

Mason-Dixon German Shorthaired Pointer Club

By Nancy Huyser | Dec 03, 2019

Rossville, Pa. — The MDGSPC 2019 fall horseback field trial was held November 16-17 at the York Pointer and Setter Club in Rossville, Pa.

We only got 57 entries for the event. So we decided to run the event in two days. The weather was windy and cold on Saturday and not so windy on Sunday, just cold. Thank you to everyone for being on the line and ready.

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We had dinner in the clubhouse on Saturday night.

Many thanks to all who supported the kitchen. This helps with the expenses of the trial.

Special thank you to the following people for the work they performed at the event (hopefully I did not miss anyone).

With Ken having surgery in October I appreciated the help in running the event. I could not have done it without them. Some people say it ran smoothly but I can’t remember that now.

Bird planting was handled by Don Eck, Pat Dady, Darrin Boyer. Gunners were Don Eck and Pat Dady; they went 10 for 10.

Dick Cullerton helped with line marshal duties from the chair by the stove with a bum leg.

Muffy Cullerton, Stephanie Snyder (brownies), Will Kitts and Pat Dady for the kitchen assistance.

We can never thank the judges enough for the long hours in the saddle. Will Kitts, Jeff Currier, Bill Monk, Lance Fargo, Stephanie Snyder, Troy Hoverter and Rex Messner.

Thank you to Robin and Chris for wrangling. They always had the horses ready for the judges, handlers and gallery so we had no delays.

Congratulations to the winners of the revolving trophies:

The following revolving trophies were awarded for the 2019 fall event:

Paul A. Snyder Memorial Trophy — winner of the Amateur Restricted Shooting Dog Stake: Whitemarshs Maxines Atit Again, owner-handler Jeanne Kelly.
