Mid-America Open Championship

Longton, Kan — The 34th running of the Mid-America Prairie Championship was held at the Westfall Ranch and began Monday, October 11.

Judges Kelli Aitkin of Manhattan, Kan.,  and Chris Caggle of Novi, Mich., presided, for the 25-dog entry, and named Westfall's True Grit the winner. The six-year-old white and liver pointer male is owned by Ryan Westfall of Liberty, Mo., and was handled by Andy Daugherty. Runner-up was Touch's Fire Away, four-year-old white and orange pointer male owned by Greg and Carmen Adams of Norfolk, Va., and handled by Randy Anderson.

The Minor E. Gordon Open Derby drew seven. The winner was Wynona's Nickleback Sugar, white and orange setter female owned by Bruce Sooter of Snyder, Tex., and handled by Allen Vincent. Second was I'm Gallant, white and black pointer male owned by Jay McKenzie of  Eureka, Kan., and handled by Randy Anderson. Third was Westfall's Power Trip, also a white and black pointer male, owned by Ryan Westfall and handled by Andy Daugherty.
