Midwestern States Shooting Dog Futurity

Grovespring, Mo. — Fourteen Derbies toed the line at the 32nd running of the Midwestern States Shooting Dog Futurity. After the dust had settled on the one-hour final series, in which the standby dogs were called to the line, returning judges Mark Johnson of Winnebago, Ill., and Danny Draffen of Bunceton, Mo., placed four outstanding Derby competitors.

Long time Futurity supporter Bill Westfall of Liberty, Mo., was on hand to witness his two outstanding Derbies, pointer males Westfall’s Mandalay and Westfall’s Wheels Up, earn the first and second place honors under the whistle of recently inducted Hall of Fame trainer Andy Daugherty. Shawn Kinkelaar was back in the winners’ circle with one of his top Derbies, pointer female Chelsea’s Mae West, taking third for her owner Brad Sadler of Port Royal, S. C. Placed fourth was pointer male Erin’s Alibi for owner-handler John Van Horn of Dardanelle, Ark.
