National Amateur Chicken Championship

Mortlach, Sask. — The 2017 renewal of the National Amateur Chicken Championship was held at Mortlach, Sask. Twenty-nine dogs were drawn and competed.

The winner emerged in Manteo’s Ace of Spades, six-year-old white and black pointer male owned and handled by Paul Falkowsky of Calgary, Alberta. Runner-up was Erin’s Full Throttle, six-year-old white and liver  pointer male owned and handled by John Ivester of Huntersville, N. C.

The judges were Colin Kennedy and Mike Jones, both from Calgary, Alberta.

The companion Region 14 Amateur All-Age Championship drew 27 dogs — 24 pointers and three setters. The winner was Ten Oaks Elkand’s Delight, four-year-old white and orange pointer male owned and handled by Lou Qualtiere of Saskatoon, Sask. Runner-up was Rester’s Super Chief, six-year-old white and orange pointer male owned and handled by Cecil R. Rester of Angie, La.

Judges for this fixture were brothers Alex and Erik Mauck from Oregon.
