National Amateur Derby and Shooting Dog Championships

Conway, Ark. — The National  Amateur Shooting Dog Derby and National Amateur Shooting Dog Championships were held at the Camp Robinson venue near Conway, Ark. Named winner of the Derby fixture was Miller’s Packing Heat, white and orange pointer female owned by Jack and Fran Miller of Barwick, Ga. Runner-up was Southern Shadows T Rex, white and liver pointer male in the ownership of Lance Servais of Cecil, Ala. There were thirteen entries.

In the National Amateur Shooting Dog Championship the winner was Hale’s Southern Touch, white and liver pointer female coming eight (February 11), owned  and handled Dr. Jeffrey Hale of Russellville, Ark. Runner-up was Absolute Diva, also a white and liver pointer female coming ten (March 24), owned by Joyce and Johnny Taylor of Paron, Ark. Thirty-nine dogs were entered.

Dr. Jim Mills of Searcy, Ark., and Harold Woodward of Livonia, Ark., judged both stakes.
