National Amateur Prairie Chicken Shooting Dog Championship

By Mark Johnson and Frank LaNasa | Oct 03, 2019

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. — The 2019 edition of the National Amateur Prairie Chicken  Shooting Dog Championship was held at Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., where 27 dogs competed under Judges Harold Ray of Waynesboro, Ga., and Dennis Sneed of Ewing, Ill., who named Jumpstart, three-year-old white and orange pointer male, the winner  for his owner and handler Frank LaNasa of Isanti, Minn.

They awarded runner-up honors to Strut Nation, five-year-old pointer male owned and handled by Scott Jordan of White Bear Lake, Minn.

Due to plentiful rains all summer,  cover was more than challenging for the dogs and handlers on the Buena Vista Grasslands.  Birds were plentiful and seen throughout the trial on all of the courses.
