National Bird Hunters Open Invitational Championship and Futurity

By Bruce Mercer, NBHA Futurity Director | Jan 09, 2020

Jonesboro, Ga. — The NBHA has three stakes on the agenda for late January — the NBHA Open Invitational Championship, NBHA Futurity and the Jerry Kilgore Puppy Classic in Pamplico, S. C.

Forty-eight dogs have been entered in the Championship, 36 Derbies are slated to compete in the Futurity, and another 36 in the Jerry Kilgore Puppy Classic.

Because of the large entry, the starting date has been moved ahead to January 20, based on the wording appearing in the ad “depending on entries.” The Championship will begin Monday, January 20, the Futurity on Friday,  January 24, followed by the Jerry Kilgore Puppy Classic.

This is a tremendous turnout that brings the total to 120 dogs competing in these combined events, the largest NBHA Futurity/Open Invitational Championship in over thirty years.

We are extremely excited for our owners and handlers to have the opportunity to compete in such a prestigious event.

Judges for all events are Quintin Wiseman of Hogansville, Ga., and Toby Tobiassen of Catskill, N. Y.
