National Open Pheasant Shooting Dog Championship

Steubenville, Ohio — The 61st running of the National Open Pheasant Shooting Dog Championship took place September 25-29 at the Mingo Sportsman’s Club grounds in Steubenville, Ohio.

Judges Andy Crowell of South Boston, Va., and Mark Calder of Frederick, Md., named nine-year-old pointer male Erin’s War Creek, handled by George Tracy and owned by Allen Linder of Livingston, Tenn., the champion. Runner-up honors went to pointer female Palara, six-year-old white and black pointer female handled by Mike Tracy and owned by Sal J. Morelli of White Plains, N. Y. These two ran in the final brace of the stake and bested the field of 54 dogs.
