National Prairie Chicken Shooting Dog Championship

Bancroft, Wis. — The 2021 running of the The National Prairie Chicken Shooting Dog Championship successfully concluded on September 28. Eighteen dogs were drawn in the Championship and six in the Open Derby.

Judges Jim Wallace of Akron, Ohio and Alex Jacocks of Edmond, Okla., named Southern Confidence, pointer male owned and handled by Frank LaNasa the champion. Runner-up honors went to Boumeester’s Evangelist, pointer male, owned and handled by Richie Boumeester.

With a strong forward race, the Open Derby was won by Notorious Front Range, pointer male owned and handled by John Mathys. Capturing second place with a nice forward race was Houston’s Sam, pointer male handled by Jim Tande. Placing third with nice forward race was Hawthorne Pepper, pointer female handled by Jim Tande.
