Field Trial Report

New Brunswick Field Trial Association

McAdam, N. B. — The sixth annual spring trial was held again on May 6-7 in McAdam, New Brunswick. The venue again this year was Hoof & Paw B&B.

Heavy rains on Saturday didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the handlers.

Dinner on Friday night was prepared by this reporter with chili from ground bear meat. Trial chairman Anthony Matthews provided Bay of Fundy scallops wrapped in bacon for appetizers.

Saturday night’s turkey dinner was followed by the annual Kentucky Derby raffle and viewing of the race on the big screen.

The raffle raised $200 for the club and helps offset the costs of this trial.

We drew 28 dogs for the weekend. The normally popular Gun Dog Stake on Sunday morning only had two entries this year, which was a disappointment.

I want to thank Anthony Matthews who chaired this year’s spring trial and who did the heavy lifting to make sure everything was ready to go.

Also a big thank you for all who agreed to judge — Joe Dahl, Tom Wilkins, Justin Neil, Anthony Matthews, Cal Robinson and Richard Despins.

We want to thank everyone who joined us for the McAdam trial again this year. I’m not sure where you will have a better time at a field trial.
