Browning, Mo. — The North Missouri Field Trial Club held its NBHA fall trial on September 19 at the Westfall Ranch near Browning, Mo. North Missouri Field Trial Club is very appreciative of Mr. Bill Wesfall for allowing us to use his facilities and grounds to host this event.

We would like to acknowledge the National Bird Hunters sponsors who graciously support the NBHA throughout the year. They are: Purina Pro Plan, Garmin, Gun Dog Supply, Mule Brand Clothes, and Gun Dog Central. For this event, Purina Pro Plan provided each winner with a Pro Plan coupon for dog food and Gun Dog Supply provided two gift certificates to be drawn at large, for purchasing merchandise from Gun Dog Supply.

Both Open and Amateur stakes were held this weekend with the Amateur Shooting Dog starting first. Weather was mild and very warm and all in attendance practiced their social distancing this weekend.

Big thanks to our judges and to Jim Giles who took care of the dog wagon and bird planting duties.

THE WINNERS

First place in the Amateur Shooting Dog was won by Wind Chaser, pointer female owned and handled by Brent Hoehns of Knoxville, Ia. “Kate” had a nice forward race, and her bird work was clean and crisp. Penrosa Hidn Cash, setter male owned and handled by Tim Penn of Edina, Mo., had two quality pieces of bird work to earn the second spot. Third was Craig’s Runin Roxie owned and handled by Craig Hiatt of Edgerton, Mo. This little female caught the judges eyes as she laid out a quality ground race.

With the warmer temperatures some of the younger dogs did not complete the full running time to secure a placement.

The Amateur Derby had one winner, Penrosa Redheaded Witch, setter female, owned and handled by Brent Hoehns. Heat of the day was very warm during her brace. “Ginny,” showed her strength, running a nice forward race with style.

Carpenter’s Got Away Bo, setter male,  secured the first place in the Amateur Puppy. “Bo” was handled by Kevin Carpenter of Clarksburg, Mo.

On Sunday we started off with the Open Shooting Dog. Glover’s Van Halen, setter male owned and handled by Jack Glover of Shelbyville, Mo., won first with a five-find performance. Taking second place honors was Craig’s Runin Roxie, pointer female owned and handled by Craig Hiatt, of Edgerton, Mo. Rounding up  third place was Penrosa Behrdevil, pointer male owned and handled by Tim Penn of Edina, Mo.

Final stake was the Open Derby with Touch's Mac Daddy, pointer male, winning first for owner-handler by Klaus Schmidt of Wichita, Kan.  Taking home second place was Mo’s Blazingstar, setter male, owned and handled by Lindsey Wagner of Maple Hill, Kan.

Thanks to all who participated and made this trial a success.
