Northern Michigan Cover Dog Championship

By Tom Fruchey | Nov 01, 2018

Meredith, Mich. — Blast Off, a very fancy fast moving four-year-old white and orange setter male owned by Justin Evans of Duncannon, Pa., and handled by Marc Forman, bested a field of 54 to claim the title of the Northern Michigan Cover Dog Champion, held in Meredith, Mich., at the famous Gladwin Field Trial Area. He put forth a very hard driving forward ground performance enhanced with a grouse and a woodcock find.

Weather conditions were very dry and windy for most of the trial, making native grouse and woodcock work very difficult, which made this performance much more special.

Running in the same heat was his bracemate Dun Rovens Drifter which took the runner-up honors with two very nice woodcock finds and a solid strong ground performance. The five-year-old white and black setter male is owned by Richard Hollister of Roscommon, Mich.
