Dixon, Ky. — Mary Sue Schalk sent a brief note informing that she and her dad, Mike Crouse, left Dixon, Ky., at midnight for the Central Kentucky field trials starting October 1 at Berea, Ky.

“We made a brief stop on our way home,” she wrote. “Dewey Mullins, former manager of the Central Kentucky Area (now known as Miller Welch) has been a family friend since Uncle Jim (Crouse) and Dad began trialing. We were glad to see him in good health and thankful to catch up with him at 100 years young.”

Dewey Mullins was involved in the field trial sport for more than sixty years, as judge, club official, breeder and owner. He and his son Donnie live just short ways from the Central Kentucky grounds and were mainstays of the trials there for years. Many of their winners carried the Bearwallow prefix to their names.
