Richard Hannaway — In Memoriam

By Ann & George Ihrke | Jul 12, 2018

Buckley, Ill. — A great friend to field trials, Richard Hannaway, passed away on June 6.

The horseback field trial community has lost a great friend and productive individual.

Rich Hannaway, 77, of Monee, Ill., left a void in Illinois horseback field trials as well as the Field Trial Clubs of Illinois. Rich was a cherished friend and one who could, in a flash, with a smile and his positive attitude, improve your day instantly.

During his professional career he was project architect for several high-profile design projects, including the iconic red CNA building on the Chicago skyline, Lake Point Towers and Delmor Hospital.

He was one of the founding mem- bers of the Western Pointer Field Trial Club, one of Illinois’ oldest field trial clubs. He was also a member and supporter of Hilltop Pointer and Setter Club.

Rich served as secretary and Board of Directors of the Field Trial Clubs of Illinois for several years, and helped ensure its success in a time of expan- sion.

Richard and his wife Jan were fixtures at local and regional trials and he will be sorely missed.

To quote Rich, “Field trials are my life.”
