Field Trial Report

Southeastern Brittany Trials

By Judy Tighe | Apr 10, 2018

Hoffman, N. C. — Southeastern joined with North Jersey Brittany Club to host the Champagne Championship due to the AKC Gun Dog Championship being scheduled in direct conflict with the championship. There is a separate writeup for the Champagne Championship which ran from Wednesday through most of Friday.

The uniqueness of the Hoffman venue is that it is run on six one-hour courses that are run over only one time per day.

Several years ago when few birds were found, the North Carolina Field Trial Association went to work to redo the bird program. It has been an outstanding success with dogs finding many more birds, and the scouts and gallery occasionally riding up big coveys.

We had participants from the Northeast, Midwest and South.

There were activities all week and Southeastern hosted a Saturday night potluck dinner. Great thanks go to Lynn Holbrook who cooked 30 pounds of brisket. Tina Odom made sure everyone was fed for lunch with great homemade meals.

Thanks to Ralph and Judy Kiracofe and Joe and Marsha Luisi for keeping the trial running smoothly along with Larry McDonald loading up the dog wagon. Lee and Lynn Holbrook did the final cleanup and mopping of the clubhouse at the end of the trial when everyone was tired.

Our thanks to all our exhibitors and judges, without whom we could not have a field trial. The results follow:
