Southeastern Open Shooting Dog Championship

By Joel Norman | Apr 05, 2021

Leesburg, Ga. — The 2021 Southeastern Open Shooting Dog Championship is in the books following 36 pointers and two setters competing this year.

The winner was found in Miller's Unbridled Forever; runner-up was Miller's Record Heat, both handled by Mike Tracy. These two are from different litters produce by Just Irresistible and Miller's Bring The Heat. They were bred, raised, and trained by Jack and Fran Miller of Barwick Ga. Unbridled is owned by Great River Kennels and Neil Walker. Record Heat is owned by Allen Linder.

This year's judges were Alan Atkins and Clay Ferguson. Alan has been in the game for a while and appreciates and recognizes a good one. Clay is resident dog trainer at Senah Plantation and filled in when Lavon King was not able to judge due to a previous injury. Both judges were very attentive and fair.

A special thanks goes out to Benjy Griffith, the owner of Senah Plantation for his contribution and support of field trials. Also to Matt McClung for marshalling, Jonathon Pineda for driving dog wagon and other duties, and Tina for taking care of the meals.
