Field Trial Report

Spencer Farm Trials

By Keri Sims | Jun 11, 2018

Milton, Fla. — The Spencer Farm Field Trial Club spring trial was held March 17-18 in Milton, Fla. The predicted weather was severe thunderstorms and rain. Fortunately, this system blew north of us until the last brace Sunday afternoon.

The courses were in good shape and the third course is taking shape after clearing and burning.

Friday night grilled hamburgers were  enjoyed by all in attendance. The meals were prepared by Keri Sims and Nikki Spencer. A steak dinner was served Saturday night to about fifty individuals. Old-timer Jack Arlington stated, “These were about the best meals I have seen at any field trial.” A huge thanks to the ladies.

We were pleased to have Mr. Eli Richardson attend for his first time, and he says he’s coming back. Mike Martino brought his string of shooting dogs and earned several placements.

Birds were abundant. The previous weekend a gun dog trial was held on the grounds, and 129 birds were released. An additional 125 birds were released between every brace at this trial. Jim Spencer and Junior Sims want everyone to have a chance at bird work and you see a lot of action. The bird planters were kept busy and a big thanks goes to Mike Carmondy, Rob Taylor and Aaron and Anette Black.
