Texas Open Shooting Dog Championship

Conway, Ark. — The 2021 Texas Open Shooting Dog Championship and Open Derby enjoyed a great renewal at the Camp Robinson venue near Conway, Ark.

The Championship drew a competitive field of 44 contenders — 39 pointers 2 setters and 3 Vizslas for Judges Jim Lawless of Sparta, Ill., and Eddie Smith of Fruitville, Tex. Named winner was True Choice, seven-year-old white and liver pointer female owned by Greg Fried of Millerstown, Pa. Runner-up was Hale's High Flyer, four-year-old white and liver pointer female owned by Dr. Jeffrey Hale of Russellville, Ark., and handled by Eddy Taylor.

In the Derby, with an entry of eight, the winner was Erin's Thunder Backus, pointer male owned by Dr. Tom Jackson of Indiana and Jerry Moisson of Wisconsin. Second was Chelsea's Thunderstruck, pointer male owned by Brad Sadler of Port Royal S.C., and handled by Kinkelaar. Third was Brighter Days, pointer female owned by Charles Forsyth and handled by Virgil Moore.
