United States Chicken Championship

Mobridge, S. D. — The United States Chicken Championship and companion Open Derby, under the auspices of the Northern States Amateur Field Trial Association, were successfully concluded.

For the Derby, judges were Joe Rentz of Brooks, Ga., and Ross Leonard of Chatsworth, Ga. The stake drew 22 entries, 21 pointers and 1 setter.

Handlers were Judd Carlton, Jamie Daniels, Tommy Davis, Luke Eisenhart, Scott Jordan, Frank LaNasa, T. Mills, and Lee Phillips.

In the Derby, Jamie Daniels handled all three winners. First was Dominator’s Bull Market Bud, pointer male owned by Jim and Bill Hamilton, David Raines and Field Norris. Second was Rebel Cause, pointer male owned by Tennesseans David and Angie Williams, and third was Just Say When, pointer male owned by Jack and Tracy Haines of Broomfield, Colo.

Joe Rentz and Ross Leonard judged the 31 pointers and 3 setters (34 dogs) in the United States Chicken Championship.

Handlers were Judd Carlton, Jamie Daniels, Tommy Davis, Sean Derrig, Luke Eisenhart, Burl Hicks, Scott Jordan, Frank LaNasa, Billy Wayne Morton, and Garland Priddy.

Named winner was Mercer Mill Grand, six-year-old white and lemon pointer male handled by Billy Wayne Morton, scouted by John David Smith, and owned by Remy Trafelet of Oakfield, Ga. This team won runner-up in this Championship last year (2018)!

Runner-up was Wild Hawk, white and orange pointer male handled by Judd Carlton, scouted by Jamie Daniels, and owned by Mike Moses of Lake City, Fla. This was Wild Hawk’s and Judd Carlton’s first championship placement!
