United States Quail Shooting Dog Futurity

Hoffman, N. C. — The 55th renewal of the United States  Quail Shooting Dog Futurity was concluded on January 31 at North Carolina field trial grounds near Hoffman, N. C. Sixty-four contenders were drawn, with 61 actually competing under the judicial watch of Squire Lee of Pavo, Ga., and Kevin Stuart of Schenectady, N. Y.

After a third series callback the judges named a winner in Silver W Jill Z, orange marked pointer female owned by Dr. Debra Ozner of Ochlocknee, Ga., bred by Chelsea Plantation and Brad Sadler of Ridgeland, S. C., and handled by Shawn Kinkelaar to wide range ground work and four contacts with game. Second went to Miller’s Blazing Hot Chick, liver marked pointer female owned by Bill and Muriel Primm of Cream Ridge, N. J., bred by Jack and Fran Miller of Barwick, Ga., and handled by George Tracy. Third was Bittersweet War Cry, black marked pointer male owned by Ralph Gillota of Medina, Ohio, bred by Adam Hart of Blackshear,  Ga., and handled by Toby Tobiassen. Fourth went to Mohawk Mill Trail Warrior, liver marked pointer male owned, bred and handled by Gary Winall of Powhatan, Va. The second, third and fourth placed dogs had one find each in the third series callback.

Sunny but cold conditions prevailed throughout the running.
