Steel City Storm First in the Open Shooting Dog Stake

Rossville, Pa. — The York Pointer and Setter Club held its spring trial April 14-15 at the club grounds in Rossville, Pa.

Temperatures were in the 60s each day.

We are extremely grateful for all the participants. Special thanks to the pros Jeanette Tracy, Mike Tracy and Dillon Shaffer for their faithful support of the York trial.

Thanks to Connie Mensch for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thanks to our judges John Campoli and Dave McKay in the Open stakes and Jeanette Tracy and Dillon Shaffer in the Amateur stakes. Thanks to Darron and Steve Boyer for planting the birds.

The Open Shooting Dog had 22 entries. Awarded first was Steel City Storm, handled by Jeanette Tracy with three finds and a strong race. Placed second was The Slight Edge, handled by Mike Tracy to two finds and a good forward race. Redgate’s Sassy Pants placed third for handler Jeanette Tracy with one find and a back with a classy race.

In the Open Derby, Tall Hot Dilemma was first with one find and a good race. Second was Ladywood’s Jazz It Up with two finds, and third was Doubledee Dalas with one find.

In the Amateur Shooting Dog, Rockabully, handled by Ernie Saniga and scouted by Karen Saniga, had four finds and a strong forward race running the edges well to earn first. Second was Redgate’s Sassy Pants, handled by Brett Neely to three finds, a back and a classy race. Third was Windfall, handled by Roger Boser to four finds and a back.

In the Amateur Derby, Jaycee’s Grace, handled by John Campoli, had four finds and a classy race. Second was Revenant, handled by Roger Boser to two finds and a stop to flush.
